Thursday, February 21, 2008, we will have a:

Competition!

The programmers with the top three robots will have the opportunity to explain their algorithms, with the programmer of the top robot taking home an iPod Touch, courtesy of Vaco Technology!

Update: See the Results!!!!

Visit the meeting archive for February 21, 2008!

So what are the rules?

  • Code from publicly available robots can be used (we want to encourage the "arms race" of robots).
  • If using a publicly available robot, the participant must add something "novel" to the operation of the robot (our ruthless judges will decide the line here).
  • The participant must be able to explain the operation of all of the code in the robot (the group does have an "educational" mission - if you don't know what the robot does and how it does it, we will disqualify you).
  • Participants may use any freely available Java (or other language) libraries they can successfully package with their robots, provided no changes must be made to the Robocode environment itself to incorporate them.
  • All participants must submit the source code for their robots to the JUG's open source project at Google Code following the competition.
  • Fully packaged robots must be delivered to Matt Stine before 12:00 AM, February 15, 2008. Details on how to deliver your robot will be forthcoming.
