Java User Group Meeting: Thursday, September 19th @ 6:30 PM

The next meeting of the Memphis Java User Group will be held September 19th, Thursday at 6:30 pm.

Please RSVP at: http://www.meetup.com/memphis-technology-user-groups/events/95604342/

Our talk this month is Java 8: Objectively Better by Chris Roberts.

About the talk:
Java 8 is almost here and there's a lot for Java developers to get excited about.  We will cover several updates to the JDK, including the new DateTime API, project Nashorn for running JavaScript on the JVM, and several new utility methods.  This talk will steer clear of all the new functional goodness coming with Java 8, which will be covered next month by Joel Neely.
About our speaker:
Chris Roberts is a senior consultant with Data Directions, Inc. in Richmond, Virginia, where he works with a variety of technologies, most of which start with the letter J or (when he has his way) the letter G. He doesn't discriminate and even spends time occasionally in ecosystems starting with punctuation characters like "."  He also writes for the newspaper column "Ask the PropellerHeads," where he tries to help with their technology problems in 600 words or so.
We are meeting at Southwest Tennessee Community College, 5983 Macon Cove Memphis, TN 38134. From I-40, exit at Sycamore View Road. Turn right at Macon road, then continue to the campus entrance. Take a left at the next road, then turn right.
