Community Updates

The new Memphis Java User Group website is now fully operational. We'll be publishing more news updates directly on the website in order to better connect with the community. We'll continue publishing updates via our mailing list as well.

LaunchMemphis is hosting a new Google calendar on their MemTech page. This community calendar includes the date and times for a variety of tech events in Memphis, including the Java User Group. You can visit it via the LaunchMemphis site or check it out in the sidebar to the right.

If you do look at the calendar, you might notice there is no Java User Group meeting in December. This is by design. Please enjoy the holiday break.

The PHP User Group is now meeting on the Fourth Tuesday of the month, except December because that would be Christmas. They will be meeting on December 18th instead. They meet at the Mid-South Makers space.

During the last Memphis PHP User Group meeting Joe Ferguson gave a talk on Virtualmin. This tool describes itself as a "powerful and flexible web hosting control panel for Linux and UNIX systems based on the well-known Open Source web-based systems management GUI, Webmin. Manage your virtual domains, mailboxes, databases, applications, and the entire server, from one comprehensive and friendly interface." Discussions of SSL encryption, Apache settings, and other web topics were covered.

Tech Lunch is the weekly tech meetup at Panera on Popular and Perkins on Wednesdays at 11:30. But now there are Cordova and Downtown Editions as well, each held once a month. Check out the MemTech community calendar for dates, times, and locations.
